Well, as some of you know my mom and I started our own little company called In Stitches 'N' Stuff. It all started during Christmas last year, we were trying to make a little extra money. We had so much fun we decided to try and do this on the side and make some extra cash. Like we don't have anything better to do.

I am the "marketing department" and mom works in the "sweat shop" sewing. She actually likes to do the sewing, says it is good therapy for her, plus she sews ALOT better than I do.

This year we decided to tackle some boutiques. We did one at her home, it was a success thanks to her wonderful friends and neighbors and we did one at my home, it was NOT a success!

With our heads held high we knew there were going to be ups and downs in starting a new business. Our first big adventure was to try "Western Days" in Kanab, Utah. Our trip to Utah accomplished several things; visiting relatives, have a vacation and trying out our products.

We had a learning experience ahead of us. We loaded up my Suburban as well as my mother's car with all of our stuff, my dad and my three kids. Now, if you don't know were Kanab is, it is on the southern boarder of Utah and Arizona. We settled in and started preparing for a two day experience. Let me tell you, the main street of Kanab is no longer than Main St at Disneyland and I have never seen so many people in that city than I did for "Western Days." It was absolutely amazing!

At the end of the festival, we made a little over $1,000.00, pretty good, yea. But, we had to pay for the hotel, our booth spot, the gas to drive and some items we bought thinking they would sell.... unfortunately, we ended up in the hole. The first lesson we learned is traveling to far with a business is not profitable.

The first of November we had an opportunity to join Bonita High in the Harvest Festival. We had a GREAT turn out! We finally made a profit and even surved two down pours during the day. We were successful and we felt good about out day. Our next boutique will be the first weekend in December in LaVerne ( lots of Christmas items will be there). We are excited to see how this one will pan out.

In Stitches 'N' Stuff specializes in:
Potato Bags, Baby Burp Cloths, "Tinkle Tents," Aprons and Boogie Wipes ( for children's noses). We take custom orders for Aprons and Potato Bags (see our pictures of other items we have for sale).

With our little business it has enabled my mother and I to spend time together which we love to do!

Enjoy!!!!

* We do take orders, you may order by email, institchesnstuff@gmail.com or order from our web site
